Tommy Robinson Convicted of Harassing Two Journalists
A 10-2 jury at Southwark Crown Court convicted Tommy Robinson of two counts of harassment causing fear of violence against Daily Mail journalists Andrew Young and Jacob Dirnhuber. After nearly 12 hours of deliberation, Robinson shook his head and stared at the jury. He posted: "Just insane, the whole fucking thing is insane. We fight on." He remains on bail for sentencing on December 16 and faces up to 10 years. Prosecutors said the case followed Daily Mail reporting on his social media activity during August 2024 unrest in England after the Southport murders of three girls. Robinson was in Cyprus at the time. They said he retaliated by hiring private investigators for the home addresses of Young, Dirnhuber and editor-in-chief Ted Verity, posting about the journalists, and sharing images. Robinson told Young on a call, "I'm coming to get you," messaged Dirnhuber "I'll be knocking on your door," and wrote "Got ya" after a photo of Dirnhuber's home. Ben Holt said: "This defendant, using bully-boy and intimidating tactics, threatened the journalists." Frank Ferguson said the jury decided this behaviour crossed the line into criminality. Young was given a close-protection officer; both journalists left home or raised security. Robinson's defense was funded by Elon Musk.
