UTSA student mocks Kirk assassination in poem at Turning Point event

A student at a University of Texas at San Antonio Turning Point USA campus event recited a poem mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination and told event speaker Christian Collins he was brave to appear without neck protection. Collins, who shared video of the exchange, responded, “I’ll pray for you”; the student’s identity has not been confirmed by the cited reports. The clip went viral and drew sharply divided reactions, including Meghan McCain’s condemnation of the student and commenters who criticized McCain or defended free speech. Kirk was fatally shot at a campus event in September 2025, and a suspect has been charged in the case.
