Judge tells rapper Rick Ross he has no idea who he is
Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer told William Roberts II she did not know him after his lawyer sought faster release on battery charges, saying he would be treated like anyone else.

NBC4 Washington posted a YouTube clip on Oct. 1 under the title "Judge tells rapper Rick Ross: ‘I have no idea who you are’ | NBC4 Washington." It has drawn 1.2 million views, about 21,000 likes and more than 2,100 comments, and is trending on the platform’s News & Politics chart in the United States.
The exchange at the center of the video, according to TMZ, Complex and WSVN, came after attorney Bradley Horenstein asked Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer to speed Rick Ross’s release from jail. “Mr. Roberts is a celebrity... I’d ask that his release be expedited... He’s in a red jumpsuit, and for purposes of his safety, I don’t know what your honor can do,” Horenstein said. Glazer answered, “So, what does that mean?” She then addressed the defendant by his legal name. “I have no idea who you are, except as somebody here in the court who’s going to be treated fairly just like everybody else here.”
Ross, 50, whose full name is William Leonard Roberts II, was booked at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. The charges were felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. Bond was set at $5,000. He pleaded not guilty to both.
The alleged incident dated to Aug. 28 at Ross’s Star Island home, according to the reporting. The accuser, identified in coverage by Complex, IBTimes UK and WSVN as ex-girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick, filed a police report on Sept. 29. Miami Beach Police held a news conference the day of the arrest at which spokesperson Christopher Bess described the alleged escalation. Ross’s lawyers have rejected the claims.
Outside the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after his release, Ross spoke to reporters, WSVN reported. “I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me. I repeat, I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me.” A journalist asked whether the victim was making it up. “Yes, she’s making it up... They’re not true,” Horenstein replied. Ross added, “Of course it’s totally fabricated, my brother... What my weekend looks like, I’ll be in Dubai tomorrow, Paris Saturday and I plan on having a bowl of rigatoni with heavy marinara Sunday. I repeat, rigatoni, heavy marinara.” He left in a Rolls-Royce.
50 Cent, who has a long-running feud with Ross, seized on the courtroom moment. “The judge don’t know that fool. LOL BOOK HIS STUPID ASS!” he wrote, according to Complex. Attorneys Horenstein and Steve Sadow issued a statement saying William Roberts II “is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear. The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place.”
