Shannon Sharpe inducts brother Sterling into Pro Football Hall of Fame
Sterling Sharpe handed his new gold jacket to brother Shannon at his 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement, making them the first brothers inducted.

Mave's Archives posted a YouTube video titled "The Greatest HALL OF FAME Moment ❤️🩹"; the channel's description says the clip shows Shannon Sharpe presenting brother Sterling's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025 after Shannon had once asked that Sterling receive the credit he was due.
According to the Associated Press, Sterling Sharpe stood on the podium a few feet from his bronze bust at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 2, 2025, took off his new gold jacket and gave it to Shannon. Packers.com editor Mike Spofford wrote the same day that Sterling called Shannon up during an enshrinement speech lasting 11 minutes and 45 seconds and laid the jacket over his brother's arms. The brothers then shared a long hug. The AP reported Shannon had tears streaming down his face. They became the first pair of brothers enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Spofford supplied the backstory the moment required. After Shannon's Broncos beat the Packers in Super Bowl XXXII, three years after a neck injury forced Sterling's retirement, Shannon gave Sterling his first Super Bowl ring, not knowing he would win two more. Shannon was inducted in 2011 and said then he was the only Hall of Famer who could claim to be the second-best player in his own family.
Sterling answered that line from the Canton stage. "The last time I was here, you said you were the only pro football player in the Hall of Fame that could say this, that you were the second-best player in your own family. Well, I agree with that statement … It would be my extreme pleasure for you to be the only player in the Pro Football Hall of Fame with two gold jackets," he said, according to Spofford. The AP quoted Sterling calling the Super Bowl ring "the most precious gift I've ever received" and saying he wore it "because of love," adding he had prayed God would let Shannon win another and that God blessed him with two. "Everything I did athletically, everything, I did for an audience of one," Sterling said, per Spofford. "I didn't want this person to look outside our own dinner table to find a role model."
Shannon introduced Sterling for enshrinement in a recorded video package, Spofford reported. In it he called his brother "a freight train" and "a physical receiver" who "ran to contact" and "wanted to dole out the punishment, just as they were going to try to punish him." Sterling, the Packers' first-round pick in 1988 at seventh overall out of South Carolina, played seven seasons before looseness in the top two vertebrae ended his career in 1994. Spofford wrote that he earned first-team All-Pro three times and five Pro Bowls, led the league in receptions three times and touchdown catches twice, and in 1992 won the receiving triple crown with 108 catches, 1,461 yards and 13 touchdowns. Those 108 receptions set a single-season NFL record he broke the next year with 112.
