Police Scotland opens inquiries into Andrew Balmoral stays with Epstein

Police Scotland is conducting early-stage inquiries into Balmoral visits by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell after receiving information. A spokesperson said active inquiries are ongoing but at a very early stage, evidence-led, and that the force would never confirm details of ongoing enquiries. Epstein and Maxwell visited Balmoral in 1999, reportedly at his invitation. US prosecutors released a photo of the pair at the estate during Maxwell's sex trafficking trial. On 16 August 2001 an email from "A" to Maxwell said, "I am up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family," and asked, "Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?" Flight logs show Mountbatten-Windsor and Maxwell flew Luton to Edinburgh on Epstein's jet on 1 September 2006. Andrew was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office and later released. Last October he was stripped of his prince title and left Royal Lodge. Contested: The Daily Express said the inquiries relate to women trafficked to the estate; Police Scotland has not confirmed that and declined further comment. Andrew's identification in one photograph has not been verified. He denies wrongdoing. Inquiry details remain closed.
