Trump Examines Allegations Megaspeed Executive Spied for China
U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly concluded that Alice Huang, a Chinese executive at Singapore-based data-center firm Megaspeed, acted as an intelligence asset for Beijing, and officials were concerned about her contact with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and possible access to company information. President Donald Trump said the allegations were under close examination, praised Jensen Huang and said he wanted to keep him as an adviser unless evidence suggested otherwise; earlier reporting said Trump had been briefed on the findings about a year ago, while Jensen Huang and Nvidia received no warning briefing. Trade records showed Megaspeed’s Malaysian affiliate bought at least $4.8 billion in Nvidia-powered equipment in less than two years, prompting concern that intermediaries may have helped Chinese firms obtain restricted AI chips. Nvidia said its contacts with Megaspeed were routine, customers could not access trade secrets or sensitive national-security information, and allegations of chip diversion had been investigated and debunked the previous year. China called the allegations baseless, while Alice Huang and Megaspeed had not publicly commented.
