EU Finds TikTok Violates Minor Privacy Rules
The European Commission preliminarily found that TikTok’s default teen account settings expose minors by making accounts public and by easy-to-identify profiles, potentially facilitating unwanted contact and cyberbullying under the Digital Services Act. The probe could lead to sanctions, including fines up to 6% of global turnover, following earlier findings that addictive design features and recommender tools may jeopardize minors’ safety.
