Railways approves ₹440 crore third line, eases congestion
Indian Railways has approved a 14.52-km third railway line between Nimpura West Outer Cabin and Midnapur on the South Eastern Railway at ₹440 crore to ease congestion on the High Utilisation Network and boost capacity for both passenger and freight services. The line is expected to add about 3.52 million tonnes per annum of freight capacity, in a corridor currently handling 23.80 MTPA at 115.71% capacity, moving key commodities such as coal, iron ore, cement and fertilisers.
