Sikkim Tunnel Collapse Traps Workers, Deaths Rise
A landslide at the Samardung tunnel in South Sikkim triggered a gas leak and left 12–20 workers trapped inside the under-construction tunnel, prompting a large-scale rescue effort by NDRF, SDRF, police and Fire and Emergency Services. Rescue teams faced gas exposure hazards during the operation, but reports suggest some workers were rescued and evacuated for medical checks as the situation developed.
