Japan plans Go Oiwa coach after Asian Cup

Japan will keep Hajime Moriyasu as head coach through the 2027 Asian Cup, after which Go Oiwa is set to take over the senior national team; Oiwa currently leads the under-21s and has built a track record including Olympic and AFC successes. The transition plan envisions Moriyasu stepping aside after the Asian Cup, with Oiwa succeeding him in 2027 and overseeing the U-21 side concurrently toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
