Louvre Apollo Gallery Reopens Empty of Jewels
The Apollo Gallery at the Louvre will reopen with no crown jewels on display and will restore its 17th-century function as a state gallery, following the 2025 theft of eight crown jewels worth €88 million and plans for a secure, windowless vault elsewhere in the museum. The reopening, attended by Culture Minister Catherine Pégard, comes amid leadership changes and heightened scrutiny of the museum’s security.
