Missed Opportunity in Manchester Synagogue Attack
Greater Manchester Police apologized for a missed opportunity to act on intelligence from the Heaton Park synagogue attackers before the October 2025 attack, after mobile phones seized from Jihad al-Shamie and his associate were not examined in time. The attackers, including Mohammad Bashir who aided reconnaissance at Shrivenham and who was jailed for life, were later described as committed jihadists, with the incident leaving two worshippers dead.
