UAE approves programme to modernise GDP measurement
The UAE has approved a National Programme for Developing the Statistics System to overhaul GDP measurement and better capture non-oil growth, including the digital economy, technology and investment, while aligning with the UN System of National Accounts. The initiative also standardises a 2024 base year, reconstructs GDP time series from 2010 to 2026, and aims to boost statistical reliability, international comparability, investor confidence, and the UAE’s standing as a global economic power.
