Late night host Stephen Colbert in March slammed rising gas prices during the Trump administration’s Iran war stating on his show, “Trump is scrambling to minimize the political damage … easy for him to say, he doesn’t pay for his own gas.”

However, four years earlier, when gas prices spiked under Democratic former President Joe Biden’s administration, Colbert said on his show that he’s willing to pay four dollars a gallon for gas.
“Hell, I’ll pay $15 dollars a gallon because I drive a Tesla,” he added at the time. “That stings but a clean conscience is worth a buck or two.”
