About Daemons of the Shadow Realm

Daemons of the Shadow Realm is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. It has been serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga anthology magazine Monthly Shōnen Gangan since December 2021. The series follows Yuru, a young hunter whose ancient village is attacked by the forces of modern organized crime, the Kagemori family. One of the attackers is identical to Yuru's sister, Asa. After awakening two Daemons, supernatural beings known as Left and Right, Yuru explores the outside world to uncover the truth about the two Asas and the secret of their births. Arakawa started writing the series after researching occultism and yōkai, which she wanted to focus on in the form of demon allies. An anime television series adaptation produced by Bones Film aired its first season from April to September 2026. A second season has been announced.
