About Democratic Unity Roundtable
The Democratic Unity Roundtable is a Venezuelan political party and former catch-all electoral coalition formed in January 2008. Its primary objective was to unify opposition forces against the government of President Hugo Chávez and the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), particularly in preparation for the 2010 parliamentary elections. The coalition succeeded the Coordinadora Democrática, an earlier opposition alliance that dissolved following the failure of the 2004 Venezuelan recall referendum.
