Ford Ends Lightning, Plans Affordable Electric Pickups
Chevrolet will keep the Silverado EV around for 2027 with a modest price increase and trims consolidation, maintaining an affordable option in the full-size electric truck segment even as rivals trim back. Ford has discontinued the F-150 Lightning and is transitioning to a new generation of EVs, including the $28,350 Fathom and an EREV, built on the Universal Electric Vehicle platform and due to go on sale in early 2027, with production at the Louisville plant and features like Apple Maps integration and a claimed 700+ miles of combined range.
