
F1 Plans 15km-Shorter 2027 Races
The FIA and F1 Commission approved shortening the 2027 grand prix distances from 305km to 290km, effectively shaving about two to three laps on most circuits while leaving Monaco unchanged at 260km. They also introduced a hard stop for interrupted racing, retained two hours of actual racing, removed gearbox homologation, and granted more flexibility for practice sessions as part of broader power-unit and regulatory tweaks.
