About Hugh Maguire
Sir Hugh Maguire was an Irish lord and military commander, who was notably the first Gaelic chief to openly rebel against Elizabeth I's conquest of Ireland. He was a founding member of the confederacy of Irish lords which opposed English rule during the Nine Years' War (1593–1603).
