About Jack Baker
Richard John Baker and James Michael McConnell are American LGBTQ rights activists, known for being the first legally married same-sex couple in recorded history. Married in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on September 3, 1971, they had legally obtained a marriage license and a marriage certificate yet their marriage was unrecognized and unrecorded by both state and federal entities until Sept 2018, when a state court upheld their license and certificate as valid.
