About John Laird
John Laird is an American politician who is serving as the California State Senator for District 17 since December 7, 2020. A Democrat, Laird was Secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency from 2011 to 2019 and represented the 27th District in the California State Assembly from 2002 to 2008. The 27th District included parts of Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.
