Iowa Medicaid Fraud Unit Reports 37 Convictions at Lowest National Cost

Iowa’s Medicaid fraud unit reported 37 convictions and $3.9 million in recoveries, posting strong results despite being among the nation’s smallest units. As a state task force develops recommendations due in October, officials and a former agency director say more proactive enforcement, coordination and potentially increased staffing and funding could strengthen fraud prevention.
