In brief
President Donald Trump's "energy ceasefire" was never agreed to by either side of the war in Ukraine, as Russia continues to pound Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Russia renewed its warning for foreign diplomats and nationals to leave Kyiv and avoid traveling to Ukraine, threatening further massive strikes on what it calls military targets. The warning comes amid intensified Russian attacks on the capital’s infrastructure; Ukraine-aligned coverage condemned Moscow’s framing of the strikes as retaliation.
Russian drone strikes repeatedly hit Kyiv’s Southern Bridge and prompted closures or restrictions on several Dnipro River crossings, snarling traffic; a strike on a residential high-rise killed one person and injured others. Ukraine said it had received proposals from the United States, India, Turkey and Egypt for a partial truce covering attacks on energy infrastructure and Black Sea shipping.
