Amateur Akina ties Mexico Open lead after 64
BYU sophomore Kihei Akina shot a 7-under 64 to reach 11 under and share the lead after two rounds of the Mexico Open, continuing a run of strong PGA Tour results. With 12 points in the PGA Tour University Accelerated program, he is eight points from qualifying for a PGA Tour card; a top finish or tournament win could accelerate that path.
