UK Watchdog Proposes Microsoft Strategic Status
The U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority is considering designating Microsoft’s widely used business software as having strategic market status, which could enable tighter rules on bundling, interoperability and related services amid concerns that switching barriers limit customer choice. Microsoft disputes the regulator’s assessment, saying its products, including Copilot, are interoperable.
