Indiana Parole Board Urges Governor to Deny Clemency for Weisheit
Indiana’s parole board unanimously recommended that Gov. Mike Braun deny clemency to Jeffrey Weisheit, who was sentenced to death for killing his girlfriend’s two children in a 2010 house fire; his execution is scheduled for Nov. 5. The board rejected claims that he acted impulsively, citing evidence of preparations beforehand, while his lawyers and relatives pointed to mental illness and brain injuries; Braun will make the final, nonbinding decision.
