SEC Rules RJ Luis Ineligible at LSU
LSU has ended its effort to get guard RJ Luis Jr. cleared to play this season after the SEC determined that his professional contracts violated conference rules barring players from returning to college after signing a pro deal. Luis, the former St. John’s star who won an eligibility injunction, will remain out as LSU turns to its season without him.

Saliou Niang is a Senegalese-Italian college basketball player for the LSU Tigers of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He has previously played for Virtus Bologna and Aquila Trento of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Niang was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 58th pick in the 2025 NBA draft.
