17,000 Boeing workers approve contract, avert strike
Boeing’s white-collar union, SPEEA, approved a new four-year contract, averting a potential strike by about 17,000 engineers, scientists, analysts and technicians. The agreement includes significant pay increases and other benefits, following workers’ rejection of an earlier offer. A strike could have disrupted production and delayed certification of Boeing’s already-delayed 777X and 737 MAX 10 jets. Boeing welcomed the vote, which gives the company greater certainty as it works to recover and meet customer commitments.
