Ten Dumps 10 News+ Weeknights, Expands 5pm Bulletins
Network 10 will discontinue 10 News+ on weeknights and relocate it to Sundays only, effective August 10, in response to consistently weak ratings. The broadcaster will instead extend its flagship 5pm news bulletin from 60 minutes to 90 minutes to deliver more local reporting during the early-evening slot, with 10 News+ continuing Sunday nights at 6:30pm. Hosts Amelia Brace and Denham Hitchcock will remain with the Sunday program, while other staff are largely retained despite the shake-up. Ten’s management cited audience demand for more local news and promised continued investigations, exclusives, and state-level reporting across the week, including on Sundays. The changes come after 10 News+ launched in June 2025 as a one-hour program and later reduced its length amid mounting ratings pressure against the network’s main bulletins. Critics note the weekday ratings gap, with Monday-to-Friday editions averaging around 150,000–160,000 viewers compared with higher Sunday figures, reinforcing the network’s rationale for consolidating resources around stronger-time slots.
