DJ Chicken released after meeting bail conditions
Controversial Nigerian content creator Ademola Abiodun, known as DJ Chicken, was released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre after meeting his ₦1 million bail with two sureties following arraignment on a three-count charge related to cybercrime violations, breach of peace, and threats to kill Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu. Reports describe his detention as lasting about 12 days, during which he recounted difficulties sleeping and described tension with other inmates. A livestream from shortly after his release showed him in a vehicle smiling and speaking to followers, with his lawyer present. The release was publicly announced by his lawyer Rotimi Stephen and by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who framed it as a stand against oppression and a victory for the accused. The charges stem from a viral video in which DJ Chicken claimed Tinubu would not win the 2027 election, a statement he later defined as a joke to boost attention, and he apologized before his arrest. Sowore’s continued advocacy and posts on social media platforms accompanied the news as DJ Chicken reunited with family and supporters.
