Samsung Galaxy Card debuts in US
Samsung, in partnership with Barclays and Visa, is launching its first US credit card that is native to the Samsung Wallet ecosystem, called the Samsung Galaxy Card. The card is digital-wallet-native, features no annual fee, and offers 5% cash back on direct Samsung purchases, 3% cash back via Samsung Wallet, 2% cash back on streaming services, and 1% on all other purchases, along with a $200 bonus after spending $2,000 in 90 days. Barclays is expanding its US consumer business with this launch, marking its first foray into a digital-wallet-native card in collaboration with Samsung. Card applications and management will be handled directly within Samsung Wallet, reinforcing Samsung’s ecosystem approach. The Galaxy Card is set to be available starting July 22, ahead of Samsung’s Unpacked event, as the company leverages its platform to compete with established digital wallets. In the broader market context, digital-wallet payments are projected to grow at a steady pace, underscoring Samsung’s strategy to integrate payments, rewards, and device financing.
