AddamsFest Turns Charles Addams' Hometown Into Halloween Destination

Westfield, New Jersey, is celebrating its connection to cartoonist Charles Addams, whose hometown landmarks helped inspire the macabre style of the Addams Family. Each October, the town’s AddamsFest turns downtown storefronts into themed displays and hosts events including an art exhibit, a music and beer festival, a masquerade ball and a lawn-decorating contest. Now in its ninth year, the festival has grown into a Halloween destination, despite early doubts that residents would embrace the town’s spooky legacy.
