Cricket Ireland has engaged former England batsman Jonathan Trott on a 14-day consultancy to assist the Ireland Men’s squad ahead of the August ODI series with Afghanistan in Bready. The arrangement focuses on planning for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier and on advising on matchdays for the first two ODIs. Trott’s recent role with Afghanistan and extensive coaching résumé provide Ireland with insight into opposition and 50-over cricket as they prepare for high-stakes fixtures. He will work with Ireland’s coaching staff during the training camp and contribute on matchdays for the August series. Graeme West, Cricket Ireland’s director of high performance, described the move as a key step in leveraging top-tier expertise. Lauren Rowles has been appointed Ireland’s national women’s selector and will attend the women’s ODI against the West Indies as part of ongoing program development.
