Nez Leads Arizona District Race by 86 Votes
Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District race between Republican incumbent Eli Crane and Democrat Jonathan Nez remained too close to call, with results fluctuating as ballots were counted. Nez held a narrow lead of fewer than 200 votes in early returns and was still ahead by 86 votes early Wednesday, a margin likely to trigger a recount under state law. The contest is a rematch of 2024, when Crane won by nine points in the Republican-leaning district that President Donald Trump carried by 15 points. Nez campaigned on the cost of living and argued Crane was more aligned with wealthy interests than district residents, while outside groups spent millions of dollars, with spending favoring Crane. If Nez wins, he would become Arizona’s first Native American member of Congress.
