Centrica Reports 2026 H1 Profit, Raises Dividend
Centrica reported a Swing to H1 2026 profit before tax of £672m, up from a £43m loss a year earlier, aided by £213m of exceptional gains. Excluding one-offs, profit before tax was £459m and net profit attributable to owners rose to £532m (11.5 pence per share), with adjusted earnings per share slightly lower on a like-for-like basis. Revenue in aggregate rose to about £10.18bn, though excluding one-time items revenue fell to roughly £10.53bn from £11.93bn a year ago. The group declared an interim dividend of 2.0p per share, payable on 22 September 2026, and said distributable reserves are sufficient to fund the payout. Centrica is continuing its portfolio simplification, with Spirit Energy disposals and a focus on decommissioning Morecambe and progressing the Sizewell C project, while retail EBITDA edged higher and infrastructure earnings faced pressures. Outlooks cited a cautious stance, with full-year earnings expected to be weighted toward the first half and volatility across energy markets continuing to influence performance.
