CRPF Deploys 20 Additional Companies in Delhi
The Centre has ordered the deployment of 20 additional CRPF companies to Delhi, airlifting them from West Bengal to bolster security amid the Cockroach Janta Party protests and the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. Officials say the reinforcement, which adds to already-deployed CRPF and RAF units, aims to strengthen law and order as clashes have escalated in recent demonstrations. Each CRPF company is about 100 personnel, and the forces were originally deployed in West Bengal for state elections before being redirected at the Centre’s request. The move comes as the Centre seeks to deter violence and ensure public order in the national capital during political protests and parliamentary activity. The 20 new companies join roughly 30 additional CRPF and RAF units already in Delhi, underscoring a broad security buildup for the protests. The deployments were ordered by the Ministry of Home Affairs and involve airlifting the troops from Kolkata to Delhi.
