The institute said the advisory is distributed among students, faculty, and staff annually in line with existing conduct rules, and it should not be misinterpreted or taken out of context. Sonika Srivastava, the Media Cell Incharge, emphasized that such advisories are common practice and part of reminding the campus community of conduct expectations to avoid creating tensions with government and public organizations. The advisory has been shared online with claims that it bars expressions of affinity with political movements or public criticism, statements the institute rejects as misrepresentations of its routine communications. The clarification comes amid broader campus protests in Delhi, including the Sansad Chalo rally linked to demands for accountability in education, which have drawn police attention and media coverage. IIT Roorkee reiterated that no new directive or policy is being issued and urged stakeholders to view the advisory within the frame of established conduct rules.
