101-Year-Old Bodybuilder Among WWII Veterans Heading to DC Conference
The American Veterans Center’s 29th annual conference and American Valor event will bring World War II veterans and other military figures together in Washington, D.C., for a public program honoring 85 years of American history. The gathering includes 36 World War II veterans, among them Andrew Bostinto, a 101-year-old Bronze Star recipient and competitive bodybuilder, and Gene Metcalfe, an 82nd Airborne veteran who was captured after being mistakenly listed as killed in action. Survivors of the 9/11 attacks, Navy SEALs, Medal of Honor recipients and service members involved in the hunt for Osama bin Laden are also scheduled to take part. The weekend will include a special celebration of the World War II generation, and its talks are open to the public.
