Alaska Governor Orders Probe Into Peltola Over Second Dan Sullivan
Gov. Mike Dunleavy on Oct. 29, 2026 ordered Alaska's Department of Public Safety to investigate Mary Peltola's campaign after a New York Times report that a Democratic operative tied to her side helped encourage Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. to run. The Division of Elections had already probed. The ballot lists Peltola, Sen. Dan Sullivan, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., and Gerald Heikes. The Alaska Supreme Court rejected earlier efforts to remove the second Sullivan. The Justice Department sued last week to block certification if Sen. Sullivan loses over voter confusion. Dunleavy said deliberately tricking voters 'strikes at the integrity of our elections.' Nate Adams of Sen. Sullivan's campaign said Peltola's side spent months 'gaslighting Alaskans, denying a scheme they were running all along.' Trump told reporters she should be prosecuted and posted this is 'ELECTION FRAUD.' Peltola and the DSCC deny any role. At a Soldotna stop she said: 'Nobody's waking up worried about ballot composition. Not even me. I'm worried about my bills. I'm worried about affordability in health care.' Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Fox News the scheme may not have broken any law. Chief Judge Sharon Gleason noted the administration waited to sue until after Alaskans had started voting. The Peltola campaign and DSCC asked to join the DOJ case; the administration dropped its objection Wednesday.
