Ethio Telecom reported a robust year with revenue of about 215.8 billion birr, a 33.2% increase, and EBIT of 92.9 billion birr, up 47.5% as the company pivots toward digital services under its Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028 strategy. The operator continues expanding network infrastructure, adding thousands of sites and rolling out 4G and 5G across more cities, while committed to green energy and broader digital inclusion. Subscriber numbers climbed to roughly 90.1 million, with Telebirr processing over 9 trillion birr in cumulative transactions and more than 4 trillion birr in the just-completed year, highlighting the platform’s centrality to Ethiopia’s digital economy. Data and internet services emerged as the largest revenue stream for the first time, signaling a shift away from voice–based income, and Telebirr remains a key, growing component of the revenue mix. The results come as Ethio Telecom advances a broader privatization push and positions itself as a digital services provider spanning financial inclusion, e-commerce, and enterprise solutions.
