EV Charging Projects Span Five Markets

New public EV charging options are being added or proposed at destinations and along travel routes in Malaysia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. KL East Mall has opened two 22-kW chargers, with more AC and DC points planned, while a new high-powered station on Highway 60 near Huntsville will serve drivers heading toward Algonquin Park; new fast-charging locations have also opened at two Maine Turnpike service plazas. In Cwmbran, a proposal would add six charging bays at a Morrisons supermarket car park, amid concerns that the UK is installing public chargers too slowly to meet its 2030 target. Separately, data from South Korean highway rest-area chargers showed average daily use per charger was more than eight times that of regular fast-charging stations, underscoring strong demand at travel hubs.
