George Russell left speechless by handmade scrapbook from Malaysian fans at Sepang

Fans wearing matching turquoise Mercedes hats approached George Russell at the entrance to his garage and presented him with a blue folder.
"Oh, wow. Thank you," he said.
The gift was a handmade scrapbook containing handwritten notes, sketches and photographs from the group that calls itself Team GR63, Malaysia. Formula 1 had returned to Sepang International Circuit for the first time in nine years.
The video cuts from the garage handover to Russell later sitting with his team in the Mercedes motorhome, flipping through the pages and reacting in real time.
"This is a book I've received from Team GR63, Malaysia," he said.
"Look at the size of this book. It's incredible. It's absolutely incredible."
Mercedes struggled with tyre degradation through FP1 and FP2 on Friday in Malaysia. Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team posted the clip on X, where it drew 8,291 likes under the caption "George was speechless after reading this gift he received from his fans." An article on the moment was published Oct 2, 2026 by Alex Harrington on motorsport.com.
"And we've got so many fan messages on here, so it's... it's incredible. This has all been handmade. There's written notes, some things on computer, drawings. It's very sweet. It's really surreal. It's really surreal and... yeah, I don't... bit lost for words, to be honest."
