Hindustan Zinc Posts Record Q1 Profit, Revenue Surge
Hindustan Zinc reported a strong June quarter for FY27, with consolidated net profit jumping about 145% to Rs 5,469 crore and revenue rising roughly 77% to Rs 13,747 crore as higher metal prices and production gains boosted earnings. The company’s EBITDA almost doubled to about Rs 8,050 crore, supporting industry-leading margins while keeping costs per tonne around a multi-quarter low, underscoring its status as one of the world’s lowest-cost zinc producers. Debottlenecking and efficiency improvements drove higher refined metal production, supported by a robust silver division that posted strong revenue and profit growth. The firm also highlighted healthy by-product realizations and a stronger dollar as contributors to the earnings surge, with zinc and lead sales rising meaningfully and silver revenue doubling year over year. Hindustan Zinc announced leadership change, naming Amarendu Prakash as CEO and Whole-time Director effective August 1, 2026, succeeding the outgoing chief executive. Taken together, the results reinforce Hindustan Zinc’s position on the global cost curve and its growth trajectory amid improving commodity prices, even as the stock traded with mixed sentiment.
