The deal, reported by Bloomberg and TechCrunch, brings Co-Star’s roughly two-dozen-member team into Midjourney as part of the integration. Co-Star’s 4.3 million monthly active users and its blend of AI-generated and human-written horoscopes underpin the strategic appeal to Midjourney’s creative and digitally native user base. Midjourney has historically funded itself and remained profitable, with the expectation that the acquisition was paid out of cash flow rather than a new venture round. The move could enable Midjourney to launch a standalone consumer app and broaden its product portfolio beyond image and video generation.
