Trump to Appeal Dismissal of Wall Street Journal Suit
A federal judge in Miami dismissed President Donald Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal, its parent companies, Rupert Murdoch and two reporters. The suit concerned the Journal’s report that a sexually suggestive letter bearing Trump’s name appeared in a 2003 birthday album for Jeffrey Epstein; Trump has denied writing it. Judge Darrin Gayles ruled that Trump’s amended complaint did not plausibly show actual malice, and dismissed the case with prejudice, barring him from refiling the same case in that district. Trump’s legal team said he would appeal, while Dow Jones welcomed the ruling.
