PTC Industries secures DRDO tank cradle order
PTC Industries has secured a design and development order from ARDE, a DRDO laboratory, to engineer and supply a Titanium Cradle for the 105mm Indian Light Weight Tank, marking the company’s shift from traditional manufacturing to design-led, mission-critical defense components. The Titanium Cradle is a structural load-bearing part that supports the gun, handles recoil, and transfers firing forces to the turret, with titanium’s weight reduction benefits improving tank mobility. Chairman and Managing Director Sachin Agarwal calls the order a major milestone that expands PTC’s capabilities into engineering design, development, and validated production, strengthening its PTC ONE — From Melt to Mission platform. The deal is expected to open opportunities for lightweight titanium components across tanks and artillery systems, reinforcing India’s indigenous defense capabilities and domestic self-reliance. Industry observers view the move as aligning with a broader push toward integrated, design-led defense manufacturing and higher-value, locally produced defense platforms. The development underscores the strategic emphasis on lightweight, high-strength titanium components to enhance performance in demanding terrains and combat scenarios.
