RJ Luis Temporarily Eligible After Judge’s Injunction
Judge Ronald S. Johnson signed an injunction on Oct. 28, 2026, enjoining LSU, Will Wade, and the SEC from preventing RJ Luis from being rostered or playing, or penalizing LSU for using him. The East Baton Rouge Parish order holds through a Nov. 13 preliminary-injunction hearing. It clears Luis for LSU’s Nov. 3 opener against LSU-New Orleans and games Nov. 6 and Nov. 9. Luis averaged 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds as Big East Player of the Year at St. John’s in 2024-25. He went undrafted in 2025, signed Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics contracts, and never played a regular-season NBA game. SEC presidents adopted a professional-experience policy Aug. 25, 2025, with penalties including a fine of 50% of the sport’s operating budget and a half-season coach suspension. Tony Clayton said the suit was for RJ Luis after he met Luis’s father about a week before filing, that LSU and Wade capitulated to Sankey, and that he would not count on LSU to roster Luis. Wade said Oct. 13 LSU would follow SEC protocols. Luis has not been rostered and stopped practicing. CBS Sports reported LSU and Wade had given up. Whether LSU adds him remains open before the Nov. 13 hearing.
