Romania Intercepts Drone; Ukraine Targets Russian Sites
Romania intercepted a drone with a Romanian F-16, confirming a Shahed model and signaling deeper NATO-aligned defenses; Ukraine reported strikes on Russian targets including a Crimea facility, a Geran/UAV ground relay station, and a Donetsk bridge, along with other confirmed hits on Russian assets. Russia intensified kamikaze drone strikes against Ukrainian ships and port infrastructure in the Black Sea, signaling disruption of export routes and military logistics. In a broader theater, at least 11 people, including children, were killed in Ukrainian and Russian strikes on a Russian-held area and in Sumy and Zaporizhzhia, with Zelenskyy warning of a potential large-scale attack. The incidents underscore a continued pattern of drone and missile exchanges in the Black Sea region, drawing in NATO-adjacent states and highlighting the strategic importance of air and sea corridors for both sides. Across regions, drones and missiles have produced civilian casualties, fires, and damage to energy and communications infrastructure, underscoring the war’s widening impact on civilian life.
