Sony Leads Global Ramayana Release Across Two Diwalis
At San Diego Comic-Con, Ramayana: Part 1 debuted exclusive footage amid an India trailer delay linked to nationwide protests, with the Diwali 2026 release remaining on track. The international push has Sony Pictures Entertainment handling global distribution, backed by up to $40 million in combined marketing spend to reach audiences worldwide. Stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash play Rama and Ravana, underscoring a multiplatform, multilingual epic. The project, produced by Prime Focus Studios’ Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, features music by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman with visual effects by DNEG, while Indian distribution will be managed by Dharma Productions and international distribution led by Sony, including an English version. The release strategy envisions a two-part saga across Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027, as the team tailors the epic for global audiences.
