Google Adds Optional Selfie-Video Sign-In for Recovery

Google is expanding account recovery options with a selfie video sign-in feature that users can set up to verify their identity when they can’t access their usual device or password. The system stores and encrypts the video, uses liveness checks to deter deepfakes, and remains an optional addition alongside existing methods, though it’s not available for Workspace, child, or Advanced Protection accounts and can be deleted by the user.
